Are Sex Dolls Good For Your Mental Health?

Mental health has been a hot topic over the last few years, as there has been considerably more awareness about conditions such as anxiety and depression, as well as more serious disorders like bipolar and PTSD.

So, it’s not surprising that everyone is trying to do what they can to boost their emotional wellbeing, from exercising daily to meditating. Something you might not have realised could be good for your mental health as well is having a sex doll.

According to charity Mind, one in four Brits report having a mental health problem every year, and the figures are only likely to increase as more people become worried about money and jobs amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Men, in particular, need to be on top of their mental health, as suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 50, according to official government figures.

Sexual activities, however, are a great way of supporting positive mental health for many reasons.

Firstly, it produces serotonin, which is a feel-good hormone, helping people to feel better and less stressed. It also increases levels of dopamine, endorphins and oxytocin, and lowers the stress hormone cortisol.

It is also good at distracting people from their daily worries, helping them stay in the moment, instead of worrying about events they, most likely, can’t control.

“If you find your mind wander to your daily anxieties, try to concentrate on every little physical sensation you’re experiencing,” Talkspace suggests

What’s more, the kinkier the sex, the better it is for your mental health. A willingness to try new things and be more adventurous could boost confidence and break you free from a negative thought cycle.

You don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy a good sex life either, as masturbating, using sex toys or being intimate with a silicone sex doll can be just as effective.

In fact, it can help with communication skills, boost body image, and help you enjoy self-gratification, without the responsibilities of a relationship.
