You may have noticed a new term popping up lately when browsing silicone dolls:
RST – Realistic Skin Texture (sometimes called physical skin texture).
So what is it, really, and why are so many factories suddenly advertising it?
Two types of silicone dolls
At the most basic level, we could put silicone dolls into two categories:

Dolls without physical skin texture or with light/shallow software-made texture

Dolls with realistic skin texture (RST) from real women
(we're going to get to the bottom of RST!)
Both those with realistic skin texture and those without can look beautiful - no question! Both can feel great. But the way they’re made, and the level of realism they achieve, is very different.
Paint vs physical detail
Traditional dolls rely heavily on skin painting to create realism. Speckles, shading, veins—these are all visual tricks applied to a smooth surface.
Some silicone dolls will also have a very shallow physical texture from the mould in only certain places, such as hands and feet, pubic area and areolas. These are what we might call micro-grain 3D modelled skin texture
RST goes further.
With realistic skin texture, the tiny details are actually sculpted into the mould, and therefore to the doll itself:

Micro bumps and pores

Natural skin irregularities

Subtle texture on areas like breasts, hands, feet, and intimate zones
These details aren’t painted on - they’re built into the mould, so the finished doll has real, touchable texture.
(now it gets interesting!)
How RST is created
To achieve this, factories add an extra sculpting stage during production.
After the initial prototype is made, it’s fully coated in clay. From there, skilled sculptors manually add realistic skin texture—or in some cases, texture is taken directly from real human skin and transposed into the clay (the first pic is a gel cast taken from a real woman's skin, being imposed onto the clay-wrapped prototype that makes a mould!)
Once the mould is made from this sculpted surface, every doll poured from it carries those fine details permanently.
It’s slower. It’s more expensive. But the realism is why RST has become a major talking point... just take a look at this prototype!

Why factories are pushing RST now
As silicone formulations improve and sculpting techniques advance, physical skin texture has become a huge leap forward in realism.
Not every doll has it.
Not every customer needs it.
But once you’ve seen and felt it, the difference is unmistakable.
Which Brands Have RST?
Irontech - The T Series which includes "Naturally Optimized" and "Wonder Dolly" series feature replicated, lifelike light skin textures based on real human skin. Additionally their new 171cm body uses 3D-modelled realistic human skin textures

All Irontech silicone models besides these, feature 3D micro-grain skin textures, so they will have some physical texture, but the ones above are their best of the best!
Top Cy Doll - the team at Top Cy offer RST as an optional upgrade across their range.
Similar to Irontech, their standard silicone dolls feature a micro-grain skin texture that is 3D-modelled rather than taken from real human skin.
The RST upgrade goes a step further, using skin texture captured directly from real women for a deeper and more lifelike result. Look for it under the "Custom Made" button!

Again, your standard Fanreal is going to have some shallow skin texture, but the RST upgrade will be made from real women and be deeper and more realistic. Combine that with Fanreal's expertly crafted makeup, and you can simply behold the glory-
Tayu - the team from Tayu have called it their own marketing term: "True Skin Texture" which is featured on their 163cm D Cup doll. As with Irontech and Top Cy, their standard silicone dolls still have light physical texture created by software, but this one is the one you want if you want their best in realism.

When you're comparing prices, consider things like RST and how each brand does it.
Fanreal and Top Cy it as an upgrade with extra cost, but with a Real Lady it is standard and built into the price.
